Short Stories
So far this year has been really successful. I have a real warm feeling inside, telling me that out of all the things we've done in English so far, I will enjoy short stories the most. Unlike literacy narratives, short stories can be creative in your own way. It's not just a story that you recall, you can make this story your own. You can put some original flavor in it.
I have to admit preparing for my own short story has been a little difficult. I have so many ideas in my head and my hand can't jot them down quickly, and before I know it I have forgotten them. But just recently coming up with ideas has became particularly easy. This is because in the past few days because I have read the assigned short stories. Since I have done this, I have mentally examine ideas in my head that I can put in my very own short story. Hopefully this time the brilliant ideas will not be forgotten!

A mermaids thoughts
Why can't I fall asleep. I lie awake each and every night and my thoughts keep me up. I have a big day at school tomorrow. Let's see, I have, Swim class first, How to clean your tail second block, and then... Ugh then I have P.E. class with Coach Hammerhead. Doesn't seem like it will be a good day. Well, on the bright side, I get to sit by Jazzel in two of my class. Jazzel always seems to keep me entertained as we gossip. I know I'm missing something. Something big taking place tomorrow.
THAT'S IT! I get to watch the dolphin's race after school tomorrow. Mommy said she would pick me up there and drop me off at the coral. I wonder if she remembers that she has to do that. Should I go wake her? No, I'll just tell her in the morning. Well I should probably be getting to sleep, I have a heck of a day tomorrow.

Harrison Bergeron
The short story of Harrison Bergeron was quite interesting. At first when I read it was a little puzzled. I had to go back a re- read some parts just to let them process through my brain. Re-reading these certain parts, and discussing it it class, made me think it was a lot like divergent. A lot of social diversity, and perfection. Not only, was Harrison Bergeron interesting, it also had a humor side to it too.
At the beginning of the story I was uncertain where it was heading. I was confused how or why they put the son in jail. I kept on reading more, and ran into confusion with the ear pierce. To be completely honest, I thought it was a hearing add at first. I soon discovered that it was a ear pierce, that technically messed with your brains train of thought. All those little things about the story really had me going into detail and re-reading it. Anyways, I really did enjoy "Harrison Bergeron", and some of it's humor.

E-books
I am so pumped to make an E book. E books are such great inventions, and I have always wanted to create one. I am truly excited about making one because the whole classes work put together in an online books just sounds perfect. Seeing or reading my peers work always gives me such a rush. Now, that I can read there work with such easy access is so great.
In my literacy narrative there is no names I really need to change. I do not include any students in my paper, just my fourth grade teacher. Although my paper doesn't need to be changed name wise, I could always use some extra eyes. I love having other student correct the mistakes or error I don't see because It helps my paper come together as a whole.
Even though we haven't started our E books yet, I can wait to make mine look colorful and poppy. I want to put colorful pictures or quotes. For example, maybe a cool neon pink pattern of art. Just to make the paper seem bright and not boring. I would also love to paint or draw a picture myself just to avoid copy right issues. Maybe I can even include a moving header for my paper. All these ideas are filling my head, and I am more than anxious to start designing the class E book.

Murder
In latin class, we are reading a story called, Murder. It is in chapter XXI, 21, in our Ecce Romani book.
The story Murder is about two guys, Aulus and Semptimus, who take a trip to Greece. One of which stays at a friends house, the other stays in a inn. Back then, staying in an inn was like sleeping on the streets, very dangerous. While Semptimus was asleep at his freinds house, Aulus appeared to him in a dream. In the dream Aulus said that he needed help and that the innkeeper was going to murder him. Semptimus woke up panicked, but then remembered it was only a dream. He quickly fell back to sleep and again Aulus appeared.
Aulus said, " You are to late, I am dead and the innkeeper has hidden my body."
Semptimus soon woke up. He went to the inn in the morning to see Aulus, and come to find out he had been killed. Gruesome, but true.
After translating this story, I noticed something that caught my attention. That was the stories creativity and vividness. Although it is in Latin, I have realized that they use adverbs such as, slowly or gently, to describe a characters movement. This really helped me picture the scene of the story, and what was really going on because after all Latin is difficult to understand.

Let's play 20 questions
It was a dark stormy night. Thunder shaking the wooden house, and lightening brightening up the sky. George and Kyle are home all alone and are as scared as ever. To get things off there minds George has an idea.
"Let's play 20 questions," George screeches.
"I don't think that's a very good idea George," Kyle manages to say while turning on his flashlight.
"But Kyle it's better than sitting here and having to be silent," exclaims George.
"Well if we're silent whoever's out there can't hear us," Kyle says under his breath.
Angry, George drops his flashlight, and it hits the floor with a kaboom. Kyle rushes to the scene and yells, "Good one dummy, now we defiantly blew our cover."
Persistently, George whips his head around and says, "Well now can we play?"
"Sure...Sure. I guess so. You start." Kyle shouts in a "whatever" kind of tone.
"Yes, okay. What is your all-time favorite movie?"
"That's a tough one. Probably..Umm..."
This went on until the boys parents finally came home, and told the boys they had hung some clothing on the line and it looked like someone was standing out there. In relief, the boys went right to bed, still a little timid to sleep with both eyes closed.

First Literacy Narrative
This week we had to write our first personal literacy narrative. Yay! At first I was really excited, but then I heard the length of the paper had to be at least 2 pages going on to three. My first thought was at least we get to double space it to make it longer. Dr. D also told us the format of the paper had to be MLA, and that format is super boring. In the beginning, I was really struggling about what to write about. We're y'all? I had to think about all different writing assignments that I did in the past. Finally, I decided to chose my first writing assignments in fourth grade to write my literacy narrative on.
After I chose what I was going to write about, I got to writing. I typed some things and then some more and on and on. At first, I didn't have the proper format, so when I did put it in MLA format my paper was three pages long. I was SO excited. I didn't think I could write that much, and I was shocked to find out when I did write three pages it wasn't as hard as I thought. It came to my attention that maybe I could be a decent writer.

I have a dream speech
What made the "I have a dream" speech, spoken by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., one of the greatest speeches speaking moments of all time?
I feel that the components that make up the "I have a dream" speech are very powerful. King had a good way of putting his words into Americans hearts and minds. One small but great thing I noticed was that King's voice while giving the speech is quite calm and inspiring. I also couldn't help but notice his words were rolling off his lips like he knew exactly what to say next.
Martin Luther is a phenomenal leader, and a outstanding roll model. He shows qualities all leaders should have such as commitment, trust, and responsibility. He was a liked and appriated man, and the "I have a dream" speech is legendary.
